Frequently Asked Questions
Where does the school data come from?
All school data comes from the UK Department for Education's Get Information About Schools (GIAS) database, combined with the latest Ofsted ratings and performance data. We update our database regularly to ensure accuracy.
What is Progress 8?
Progress 8 is a measure of how much progress pupils make between Key Stage 2 (end of primary school) and Key Stage 4 (GCSEs). A positive score means pupils made more progress than the national average, while a negative score means less. It's considered a more accurate measure of school effectiveness than raw exam results.
Why can't I find a specific school?
Fledge focuses on secondary schools (ages 11-18) in England. If you're looking for a primary school, independent school outside the GIAS database, or a school in Scotland, Wales, or Northern Ireland, it may not appear in our results. Try adjusting your search radius or filters.
How do I delete my account?
You can delete your account from the Settings tab in the app. Tap "Delete Account" and confirm. This will permanently remove your account and all associated data, including saved schools and preferences. This action cannot be undone.
Is Fledge available on Android?
Fledge is currently available on iOS. We're working hard on our Android app - sign up on our homepage to be notified when it launches!
Why does Fledge need my location?
Location access allows Fledge to automatically find schools near you without manually entering a postcode. Your location is only used locally to calculate distances and is never stored on our servers or shared with third parties.
How do I report incorrect information?
If you notice any incorrect school information, please email us at support@fledgeapp.online with the school name and the information that needs correcting. We'll investigate and update our database as needed.
